- The Merseyside districts of Knowsley, Halton, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral are overseen by the Liverpool City Regions Combined Authority in relation to travel and transport.

- The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) is a strategic approach to developing a cohesive network of high-standard active travel routes across the region, improving walking, cycling and public transport options for residents.
- The Walking and Cycling Index (formerly Bike Life) is the biggest assessment of walking and cycling in urban areas in the UK and Ireland. Each City reports on progress towards making both walking and cycling a more attractive and everyday means of travel. Merseyside's Walking and Cycling Index can be found on the Sustrans website.
- The Local Journey Strategy is the Liverpool City Region's plan to address the challenge of reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality, addressing public health concerns, improving safety and cutting traffic congestion.
