Their helicopters and HEMS response vehicles operate 365 days a year, with highly skilled specialist doctors and HEMS paramedics on board providing enhanced pre-hospital care and hospital transfers to patients across the entire Northwest each year – an area covering 5,500 square miles and over 8 million people.
Since they launched in 1999, the charity has been called to over 24,500 missions across the region, with the service called out an average of three times a day. Each year, the charity must raise over £12 million to remain operational.

Their vision is to support the building of a healthier future for children and young people.
At Alder Hey Children’s Charity, vital funds are raised to help make Alder Hey Children’s Hospital a truly world-class, patient-friendly hospital for the 330,000 patients and families cared for every year.
Since 2013, over £65m has been raised for a range of life-saving medical equipment and facilities that are making a real difference every day. That money also ensures that every child experiences Alder Hey magic – those little added extras that make the hospital experience the best it can be during a young person’s stay.
