An informal consultation took place in October 2023 regarding the proposed implementation of traffic calming measures in Bowring Park, Roby. Following the feedback received, the scheme is to be progressed and any issues have been included in the proposals.
Previous responses
We received 18 responses in total during the informal consultation, with 2 objections. The majority of respondents requested a variety of more stringent measures and welcoming the proposals for the safety of the wider area, but we will monitor the situation once the new speed limit and calming measures are in place before any other measures are introduced.
We have looked at the responses we received in October 2023 and have made some slight changes to the layout. These changes have arrived from reviewing the locations being too near to driveways and due to the new development off Edenhurst Road now being included. On close inspection of the roads in the area, we have identified 2 roads that will require resurfacing as they are currently in very poor condition. This element of the works will go ahead anyway but will be programmed to coincide with the proposals.
To reduce vehicle speeds generally it is proposed that all roads within the estate accessed from Roby Road will become a 20mph zone. This would be introduced in combination with the provision of speed cushions, ghost speed cushions, a speed table and 20mph roundel road markings, which are measures proven to reduce vehicular speeds. 20mph Zone signs would also be placed at the entrances to the Estate at Rimmer Avenue and Court Hey Road with Roby Road.
It is therefore proposed that the traffic calming measures will be installed utilising speed cushions, Speed reduction and speed tables throughout Bowring Park area, Roby will be implemented.
