Why do you need my information?
If an emergency was to occur it will enable the Council and key partners from Police, Fire, Ambulance and Health
- To assist the Council and other responding agencies to fulfil their statutory functions in emergency response and recovery.
- To protect the vital interests of anyone affected. Examples (not an exhaustive list) might include information to assess who was involved in or witnessed the incident, who may be injured, etc.
What allows you to use my information?
The Council may need to obtain personal data to fulfil duties under the following legislation:
- Civil Contingencies Act 2004
- Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Health and Social Care Act 2012
- Care Act 2014
- Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007
Other emergency responders and Council services will have legislation relevant to them, which will also allow the collection of personal information. Any sharing of this information in response or recovery will be subject to data sharing protocols.
Who will my information be shared with?
The information with be shared with internal and external bodies.
Internally – Children’s Services, Health and Social Care, Public Health, Neighbourhoods and Communities.
Externally – Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service, NHS Providers, voluntary organisations including British Red Cross.
Do I have to provide this information and what will happen if I don’t?
All information collected would be without the individual’s consent and will be exchanged between agencies
How long will you keep this data for and why?
The data will be stored for 7 years, this being the normal retention period for this type of data – see Council data retention policy.
How will my information be stored?
The data is stored on secure Council information systems.
