Admissions
If your child does not have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP)
If your child does not have an EHCP, you must apply for a secondary place.
This also applies if your child is undergoing an EHC needs assessment but does not have an EHCP.
Upon receiving your secondary school offer, your child’s primary school will share information with the secondary school, including special education needs, as part of their transition process.
If your child has an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP)
Most children with an EHCP transfer to a mainstream secondary school. A small number transfer to a specialist school, but only after discussing it with you.
If your child is leaving primary school, we’ll discuss your preference(s) for a secondary school place at your child's year six annual review.
We will send you a final amended EHCP by 15 February informing you of your child’s allocated secondary school. The letter accompanying this will explain the next steps.
