Prejudice appeals
All appeals for junior and secondary age groups (school year groups 3 to 11) are known as prejudice appeals. In the infant sector (reception to year 2), the appeal can be an infant class size prejudice appeal
The appeal panel will check that the admission authority of the school has applied its admission arrangements correctly – including where any oversubscription criteria has been used to decide how places are allocated.
The appeal panel will consider the reasons given by the school why they cannot admit another child. The panel will consider the reasons you give for wanting your child to attend that school.
The panel will then balance the prejudice between the school case and your reasons to decide whether an exceptional place is granted.
