Paying your Council Tax

Find out about the different ways you can pay your Council Tax bill.

You can pay your council tax in several ways:

  • Pay online
  • Set up a Direct Debit request
  • Call our 24-hour payment line on 0151 443 4476, and select option 1
  • At any shop displaying the Paypoint symbol
  • By cheque and postal order to: The Executive Director (Resources), Municipal Buildings, Archway Road, Huyton, L36 9YU. Cross cheques and postal orders and make them payable to ‘Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley’. Please quote your council tax account number on the back of your cheque or postal order.
  • Set up a standing order. Our bank account details are: Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Sort code: 20-51-02Account number: 73951685. Quote your council tax number, including the ‘CT’ prefix.

You must be the account holder to set up any of these payment methods.

Paying online

What may I pay?

You may pay for any of the accounts listed within our payments service.

Payment made during normal working hours will be credited the following day. Payments made overnight will be credited to your account within two working days.

Security Information

All online card payments are protected by Transport Layer Security (TLS), as recommended by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council and are directly processed using the Pay360 by Capita service.

Capita's online payment management solutions are independently and rigorously security assessed, and are certified by Visa and MasterCard as a Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) Level 1 payment processor.
