Public Spaces Protection Order – Dog control consultation

Our Public Spaces Protection Order – Dog control is due for renewal and we want to make sure it works for Knowsley.

This consultation is designed to capture your views in relation to the control of dogs in public spaces and has arisen due to a number of concerns expressed to us by members of the public and businesses in Knowsley.

The consultation includes amendments we wish to make to allow all residents, businesses and visitors to Knowsley to enjoy our outdoor spaces safely.

The Order requires people in charge of dogs to:

  • At all times carry a bag or other means of cleaning up after their dog;
  • Keep their dog on a lead at all times in Council owned cemeteries, allotments and golf courses;
  • Not take their dog into certain enclosed children’s play areas, games areas, or areas used for sport and leisure;
  • Remove their dog’s mess if it fouls; and,
  • Put their dog on a lead if instructed to do so by an authorised office

This consultation will be open for responses from July 16th 2024 to August 12th 2024.
