Members of the public are invited to comment on the Knowsley Council Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) which is now in its final draft stage.

What is the purpose of Knowsley's Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP)?

Knowsley Council wants to enable more people to walk, wheel and cycle for everyday journeys in the borough. This includes going to work, school or the shops. The LCWIP sets out the council’s long-term plans to enable growth in active travel routes across Knowsley.

The plan links in with the wider Liverpool City Region and will support the Council in its Net Zero objectives through the creation of greener, safer and healthier communities.

Cllr Tony Brennan, Knowsley Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “This consultation on our proposed Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan is a major milestone in helping to coordinate our existing schemes, those proposed by the City Region, such as Prescot to Runcorn and East Lancashire Road routes, as well as those of our neighbouring Boroughs.  The plan aims to support the design and delivery of effective walking and cycling networks for all communities across Knowsley.

“It is important that residents have an opportunity to comment and share their local knowledge and expertise to help inform this plan. I would urge all residents to take a look at the plan and provide feedback.”
