HACKNEY CARRIAGE FARES - PROPOSAL TO VARY

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council in accordance with Section 65 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 proposes to vary the existing maximum hackney carriage tariffs and extra charges from 18 April 2022 and until further notice as below: -

 
PROPOSED TARIFFS AND PERMITTED EXTRA CHARGES
 
  1. TARIFF 1
For all journeys beginning after 06.00 hours and ending before 23.00 (every day except when Tariff 2 or 3 apply).
 
 
£2.80 for the first 330 yards or less then
20p for each 205 yards (or less) up to 35,200 yards then
20p for each succeeding 300 yards (or less) and
20p each 60 seconds waiting charge (or less)
 
 
  1. TARIFF 2
For journeys beginning after 23.00 hours and ending before 06.00 hours and all public holidays except Christmas and New Year.
 
 
£3.50 for the first 330 yards or less then
25p for each 205 yards (or less) up to 35,200 yards then
25p for each succeeding 300 yards (or less) and
25p for each 60 seconds waiting charge (or less)
 
  1. TARIFF  3
For all journeys beginning 06.00 hours Christmas Eve, all Christmas Day, all Boxing Day and until 06.00 on 27 December and again from 18.00 hours on New Year’s Eve, all of New Year’s Day and until 06.00 hours on 2 January.
 
 
£3.90 for the first 400 yards or less then
20p for each succeeding 132 yards (or less) and
20p for each 40 seconds waiting charge (or less)
                     
  1. PERMITTED EXTRA CHARGES
 
 
  1. 50p as a single discretionary charge for all journeys where more than 4 passengers are carried in the vehicle             
  2. £40.00 fouling/ soiling charge
  3. All tolls both to and from the requested destination (including Tunnel, Motorway, Bridge and Airport Tolls)
 
For journeys that end more than 4 miles beyond the borough boundary (the regulated distance) the driver must agree a fare or rate of hire with the hirer before the start of the journey. If the meter rate is agreed, it will be on a manual override and will be displayed as an ‘E’ on the meter.  This rate will equate to Tariff 2’s usual charges.
 
The driver is prohibited from making any additional charge for making payment by electronic means.

Any person wishing to object to these proposed variations should do so in writing stating the reasons to the Community Protection Manager (and marked “Taxi Tariff Variation”) at the address shown below within 14 days of the publication date of this Notice. Alternatively objections can be sent to licensing@knowsley.gov.uk  If any objections are received and not withdrawn the Council will consider them and if a decision is made to approve the proposed variations, set a date not more than two months from the proposed implementation date stated above when the new tariff will be in force, whether as shown or amended from the above.
