Consultation on the Knowsley draft Housing Strategy (2022-27)
We are seeking views on a new draft Housing Strategy for Knowsley.
The draft Housing Strategy
The draft Housing Strategy sets out the Council’s vision for housing in the borough and is underpinned by objectives and priorities that will enable the vision to be achieved. It is an overarching strategy for housing in the borough and sets the tone for delivery of detailed housing issues by under-pinning strategies and policies such as the Homelessness Strategy and Tenancy Strategy.
The draft Housing Strategy aims to be concise and accessible to a wide audience and can be accessed here.
Developing the strategy
The draft Housing Strategy has been developed in response to a robust evidence base of housing needs, including a new Housing Needs Assessment of the borough.
In developing the Housing Needs Assessment, earlier in the year a household survey was sent to a sample of approximately 36,000 households in the borough to give residents the opportunity to identify housing needs and requirements of Knowsley residents and communities. All residents also had the opportunity to complete the survey online.
In addition, a stakeholder survey was also undertaken involving groups such as housebuilders, housing associations, elected members, private landlords, letting agents and services supporting residents including health.
We have worked closely with partners and stakeholders in a Knowsley Better Together way to bring together all of this information and translate into a clear strategic approach to housing for the next five years. The draft Housing Strategy is the sum of all this work.
