Company overview

Based in the heart of Kirkby, the Me2u Centre is a place where people living with dementia can feel at home in a safe and stimulating environment. We provide respite care and companionship from just an hour or two or throughout the day, as required. Visitors to our centre will receive breakfast and lunch as well as drinks and snacks. The post holder will be expected to work a 30 hour week flexibility in the working hours may be required.

Key responsibilities for the role:

  • To work with the Team Leaders to provide a warm, safe, friendly environment for older people who have mild to moderate forms of dementia and who have been assessed as requiring day support
  • To work with the Team leaders to deliver a programme of interactive activities and outings for service users.
  • To ensure user involvement, promoting mental and physical activity of service users through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities as set out in the rolling programme, attending to personal care, observing and respecting the service user’s dignity, privacy and independence as far as possible.
  • To establish and maintain effective communication with service users and their carers and to provide feedback to the Team Leaders.
  • To communicate effectively and maintain excellent relationships with volunteers at each session. Identify any volunteer training needs providing feedback to the Team Leaders.
  • To be aware of health and safety issues and in liaison with the Team Leader assist with the monitoring, reviewing and implementation during day support sessions.
  • To assist in the preparation of meals and snacks adhering to safe food hygiene procedures and keep associated records.
  • To set tables / trays, serve meals, tidy and clear away and assist / support service users at meal times.
  • To assist with the promotion and marketing of me2ucentre.
  • To participate in fundraising and trading opportunities
  • To be aware of health and safety issues and in liaison with the Team Leader assist with the monitoring, reviewing and implementation during day support sessions.
  • To act at all times in accordance with the policies and procedures of Me2uCentre
  • Attend meetings and training as deemed appropriate by the Team Leader
  • Such other duties which may be required which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.

Contracted hours: 30 hours a week
Hourly rate of pay: National Minimum Wage for age
