Schools have a statutory duty to perform numerous and onerous tasks and by subscribing to the Building Services SLA it will assist you in making adequate arrangements to meet these and other legal responsibilities.

Our professional team is on hand to support schools and support is given regardless of how schools choose to procure building works. It is regarded by many as an insurance policy or safety net in cases of emergency building issues such as fire, flooding, weather damage where an instant expert response is required.

Participation in the Building Services SLA enables schools to be included in the Council’s bulk energy contract which brings economically advantageous purchasing power, reduced energy costs. Compliance with the statutory CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is also provided.

As well as the standard provision, we can tailor our proposal to each individual school to meet your exact requirements.

Level 1: Standard Provision

  • Production of display energy certificates
  • Maintenance of automatic meter readers and procurement of bulk contracts
  • Monitoring of energy consumption levels providing fast alerts to high/unusual usage
  • 17th edition electrical inspections and fire alarm and smoke detection testing (to BS5839) six-monthly
  • Ventilation fans yearly and emergency lighting (to BS 5266 Part 1) six-monthly
  • Control of legionella (L8) monthly
  • Heating boilers and gas suppliers yearly
  • Asbestos management systems annual (element reduced for new builds)
  • Kitchen decoration
  • Day to day management of maintenance
  • Emergency on-call service and Professional advice

Level 2: Service Priced for Individual Sites

  • Portable Appliance Testing
  • Lifts (including disabled)
  • Lightening conductors
  • Fire extinguishers and fire doors (BS 478 Part 22) (BS 5306 Parts 1 & 2) six monthly/yearly
  • Intruder alarms
  • Barriers systems/automatic doors
  • Gym and playground equipment
  • Roller shutters
  • Drainage flushing and cleaning of main drains
  • New builds – building/energy management systems, sprinkler systems, air handling units, air compressors and air conditioning

Level 3: Additional Work Requirements

  • Major and minor capital works, design and implementation
  • Submission of planning and building regulation approval
