Why do you need my information?
Application forms are collected to look at skills and knowledge of potential candidates. Application forms are used to match skills and experience to the skills gap on Governing Boards.
What allows you to use my information?
We use this information with the consent of the individual. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Who will my information be shared with?
Knowsley MBC staff on the approval panel, Member responsible for Children’s Service, Assistant Director of Children’s Services, Education Improvement Officer, Head of Education, Governor Support Officer Head teacher, Chair of Governors and clerk of the school to whom the candidate will be nominated to.
Do I have to provide this information and what will happen if I don’t?
Some of the information on the application form in mandatory in order for the panel to consider it fully and best match the candidate to the vacancy. Failure to provide the information could mean a delay in the application process or the panel being unable to consider the application.
How long will you keep this data for and why?
Applicant data will be stored on the councils secure system which is only accessible by authorised personnel. This will also be shared with the school to whom the governor is appointed and retained by them in line with their own Data Protection policy. Unsuccessful applicants will be deleted following the end of the process.
Governors records who are not appointed to a school will be retained or 12 months and then destroyed. Any paper copies of the application taken to the panel will be destroyed via confidential waste before the successful applicant starts as a governor.
How will my information be stored?
Your personal data will be stored on the councils secure network and will only be accessed by staff that need to see this information.
Will this information be used to take automated decisions about me?

What rights do I have when it comes to my data?
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights with regard to your personal data: -
- The right to subject access – you have the right to see a copy of the personal data that the council holds about you and find out what it is used for
- The right to rectification – you have the right to ask the council to correct or remove any inaccurate data that we hold about you
- The right to erasure (right to be forgotten) you have the right to ask the council to remove data that we hold about you
- The right to restriction – you have the right to ask for your information to be restricted (locked down) on council systems
- The right to data portability – you have the right to ask for your data to be transferred back to you or to a new provider at your request
- The right to object – you have the right to ask the Council to stop using your personal data or to stop sending you marketing information, or complain about how your data is used
- The right to prevent automated decision making – you have the right to ask the council to stop using your data to make automated decisions about you or to stop profiling your behaviour (where applicable)
