Local policing
Merseyside Police is responsible for most policing matters in Knowsley (alongside the neighbouring areas of Sefton, St Helens, Liverpool and Wirral).
The British Transport Police, North West Motorway Patrol Group and other law enforcement agencies also work across Merseyside and Knowsley.
Multiple specialist policing teams work across Knowsley, including Early Help, Integrated Offender Management, Emergency Response, Missing Persons Unit and Targeted Policing.
In addition, Knowsley has a dedicated Local Policing Community Team. This team is made up of police officers and police staff, who are focussed on providing a highly visible presence, problem orientated policing, and addressing community priorities. They are supported – as and when needed – by additional officers from the wider force.
Alongside Police Officers, the Knowsley team also includes Police Community Safety Officers (PCSO’s) who provide a visible uniformed presence on foot and cycle patrols across the borough. They are an important part of delivering policing in Knowsley and work directly with partners and the community to prevent and detect crime, problem solve and provide reassure to residents and businesses.
