Leaf clearance services
Our cleansing teams work hard to clear leaves that have fallen from trees across the borough from mid-October to late December. We will respond to reports of heavy leaf fall in your area as quickly as possible.
How you can help
- Be careful when walking or driving on wet, leafy surfaces as they can be slippery.
- Be patient. We have limited resources and cannot clear all areas at once, especially after windy weather.
- Dispose of leaf fall from your property in your household waste bins. See information on waste collection services and the list of items that can go in your waste bins.
- Do not sweep leaves from your property into the road. This slows down our street cleansing operations and prevents us from returning to your road until our next scheduled visit.
Mechanical sweeping
Our Streetscene service cleans streets, pavements, and pedestrian areas using mechanical sweepers. These sweepers remove litter, debris, and leaves. We use large sweepers for major roads and smaller sweepers for smaller roads, cul-de-sacs, shopfronts, and town centers.
We mechanically clean approximately 1,366 kilometers of highway every four weeks. We also remove potentially dangerous substances such as highway spillages, broken glass, and dog fouling.
