Anyone who provides care and support to a friend, neighbour, or relative who is frail, disabled, or mentally or physically ill is a carer. You do not need to live in the same house to be a carer.

What the assessment involves
The assessment is a chance for you to talk about your situation and the help you need. This may include:
- Caring for a child
- Keeping your home habitable
- Eating and drinking healthily
- Maintaining family and other relationships
- Taking part in leisure activities
- Using local facilities
- Going to work, training, education, or volunteering
After the assessment, we will discuss what support we can offer to help you with your caring role, if you are eligible.
