Knowsley Council is responsible for Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE) in the borough.
This means that parking violations such as parking on double yellow lines, grass verges or pavements, double parking or parking across dropped kerbs are enforced by the council.
This helps to improve safety for pedestrians and drivers by preventing parked cars from obstructing roads and pavements. It also helps to make better use of off-street parking locations and help to introduce new, more effective parking schemes for residents and businesses.
When parking your car, check traffic signs to be sure you are parking legally.
Penalty Charge Notices
Parking in a prohibited area can result in a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) of £50 or £70. If you pay the PCN within 14 days, the penalty is reduced to £25 or £35. The levels of PCNs are set nationally.
